Winters, lights, darkness and cold,
Closed windows, warmth of sheets,
And never-ending comfort of theirs
Escapes failed or sometimes successful ones,

Walks, blinded foggy roads,
Shawls, strangers,
Teas and greetings,
Morning news, and chats,

Lunches, sunlight, roofs, and jaggery,
Splendid beautiful sun, cold indoors,
Afternoon naps,
Shifting along, roof floor as light shifts,
Goodbyes to each evening, to the setting sun,

Cold rains, timeless long little days,
A little dark always,

Water too cold to bath,
Air to cold to peek out,

Silences, whispers across the halls,
Fire along the corridor, in that little pot,
Or Sigdi as we would call it,
To keep you warm!
